HOUSTON (October 22, 2007) – StollerUSA announced today the results of ongoing commercial field trials indicating that HOLD™, a co-pack of ReZist™ and Calcium 5S™, can significantly increase nut retention and yield.
“In my commercial field trials on almond trees in 20 California locations, HOLD increased early nut retention by as much as 73 percent,” said Lance Beem of Beem Consulting, an independent research consultant to StollerUSA in North California, “and final marketable yield was increased by up to 50 percent over the last two years.”
In undesirable almond field conditions, the flower to final nut set can be as low as 30 percent. Robert Liptrap of Crop Synergy, an independent researcher and nut grower, says HOLD combats this phenomenon by balancing the levels of growth hormones and countering the effects of growth-inhibiting hormone levels in the flower and post-bloom periods.
“As the California almond market continues to grow, producers will become more dependent on the success of this crop,” said Jerry Stoller, president of StollerUSA. “At StollerUSA, we strive to help these growers by providing products like HOLD that combat the common stress problems associated with tree crops.”
StollerUSA recommends application rates of two quarts per acre of each HOLD component, ReZist and Calcium 5S. For best results, apply at 10 to 40 percent field bloom for increased nut retention and final marketable yield.
