HOUSTON (May 11, 2005) — Recent university and independent
researcher field trials showed that corn crops treated with
Stoller® Crop Health Therapy products realized double-digit
yield increases and significant returns on investment (ROI)
compared with plants in control plots.
In three separate 2004
trials, corn treated in-furrow with one quart per acre of
X-Tra Power™ produced the following results compared
with control plots. ROI for all trials is based on corn at
$2 per bushel:
- Texas A&M University — Treated corn produced
22 bushels per acre more crops. This increase equates to
an ROI of 6.8:1, or $44 per acre. Treated crops
also showed notably shorter internode lengths, thicker stalks, and greater
root mass.
- University of Illinois — Yield increase for treated
corn was 35 bushels per acre, resulting in an ROI of 10.8:1,
or $70 per acre.
- Vaughn Research, Ontario, Canada — Treated corn
produced an average of 13 bushels per acre more in four
separate locations. This equates to an ROI of
4:1, or $26 per acre.
Corn treated foliarly with
Stoller’s Sugar Mover™ Crop
Health Therapy product showed similar results:
-
Texas A&M University — Corn treated with Sugar
Mover at the eight-leaf stage produced 24 bushels per acre
more crops. This equates to an ROI of 6.8:1, or $48 per
acre. When Sugar Mover was applied at the 10-leaf stage,
the yield
increase jumped to 45 bushels per acre, for an ROI of 12.9:1,
or $90 per acre.
- In a grower experiment conducted in Ontario,
Canada by Vaughn Research, corn treated with two quarts
per acre when 12 to
18 inches tall produced yield increases of 24 bushels
per acre, for an ROI of 3.4:1, or $48 per acre.
“University and independent research continues to
demonstrate the benefits of Crop Health Therapy,” said
Dr. Albert Liptay, research director of StollerUSA. “X-Tra
Power gives plants access to essential micronutrients, amino acids, and plant
growth co-factors, while Sugar Mover reverses the flow of sugar away from apical
meristems in the leaves toward developing fruit, seed, storage tissues, and
roots. The results are higher yields; bigger, more uniform
cob size; and higher 1000-kernel
weight.”
Crop Health Therapy consists of treatments to help crops
maintain appropriate hormone balance during all stages of
growth. This allows the roots
to thrive,
resulting in healthier plants better able to withstand stress and achieve
their full genetic potential. StollerUSA, a pioneer in plant hormone research,
manufactures
and markets Crop HealthTherapy products designed for a plant’s specific
needs throughout the four stages of plant growth: establishment, vegetative
growth, flowering/reproduction, and sizing/maturity. # # #
