Bio-Forge® ST
Not Approved for Sale in California
Bio-Forge® ST is formulated for Seed Treatment
All the characteristics of Bio-Forge® technology reformulated to work as an effective and efficient seed treatment. Apply at a rate of 2 oz/cwt of seed. Compatible with most herbicides, fungicides and insecticides.
Bio-Forge® ST enhances seedling emergence. It is a concentrated formulation of Bio-Forge with additional humic acid to ensure early root development and protection from stress on young plants, especially stress associated with cold spring soils or water logged conditions. Bio-Forge ST promotes root nodulation and nodule activity in legumes. Plus, it ensures continuous new root growth for efficient nutrient uptake, especially nitrogen. Overall, Bio-Forge ST improves plant growth hormone balance for continued cellular viability and optimal plant functioning throughout the life of the plant.
- Up-regulates key genes associated with stress: DREB1A, Catalase, Dehydrin RAB18, RD29A
- Up-regulates genes controlling root hair growth to enhance nutrient uptake: RLS4
- Reduces excess ethylene from stress but leaves ethylene required for normal functioning unaffected
Ethylene is a gas produced in the cells to regulate the movement of hormones. Produced in normal amounts, it is a key component for proper cell functioning. Under stress conditions, however, ethylene can be overproduced, causing premature cell death and plant damage.
Bio-Forge ST suppresses excessive ethylene at the genetic level by up-regulating the Dreb1A gene, a gene shown to play a role in drought tolerance. By inducing the regulatory master gene Dreb1A, a cascade affect in turn up-regulates other genes involved in resistance to drought and other environmental stresses.
Bio-Forge ST is shown to up-regulate the four enzymes that protect plants from damaging free radicals which can occur in response to drought, injury from herbicides and pesticides, nutrient deficiencies and extreme temperatures.
- Mnsuperoxide dismutase
- Catalase (CAT3)
- Dehydroascorbate reductase (DHR)
- Thioredoxin reductase (THR)
Plant hormones must be constantly synthesized and regulated in the meristematic tissue (root tip cells) of the plant. Maintaining and prolonging healthy root tip growth is critical to the optimal hormone balance needed for maximum genetic expression.
Bio-Forge up-regulates RLS4 gene, the gene responsible for improving root development. Continuous root tip growth helps keep a healthy level of plant hormones during all stages of growth. Continuous root tip growth also improves nutrient uptake. Nutrients are essential for the synthesis of hormones, the perception of hormone levels and also impact the length and degree of hormone acivity.

The Ohio State University — Corn
To represent stress, plants were first subjected to extreme wet then extreme dry conditions. Bio-Forge® was then applied and compared to corn treated with fungicides. Bio-Forge enhanced yields by 8.4 to 13.2 bu/acre over fungicide-treated plants.
